A Vacation Condo in
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
Together, we faux
finished the largest wall
in
"Charlie's" living room
with a Ralph Lauren
Denim texture.
After that, I painted the
longest wall with a
bright yellow wash, and
then painted all of the
ceramic light shades
and all of his vent
covers with an
accenting color.
Not only did I paint the
whole kitchen but I
installed
two new sets
of lights!

I also installed a
junction box when I
found some live-wires
laying exposed in the
ceiling!
In addition to all of that, I painted all
but two rooms in his house, including
hallways and his garage; faux-finished
all of his interior doors; helped
cool-seal his roof; and laid over 500
pavers for him outside, all because he
had asked me to make his home my own!

But instead of me moving in, I got
booted out and he invited his "old"
girlfriend to move in instead!

Nice guy, huh?

That's when I decided to put my dream
house on the market to sell, and return
ed
to Hawaii!
During Remodeling
I had "The Handyman" install a new toilet and remove the
medicine cabinet. My Dad showed me how to create an arch, one
of the last projects that we would ever do together. I installed
new lighting, a new counter top,  a new sink and faucet, new
light switches and outlets. "PJ Stencils" custom painted one wall,
while I stained the cabinet a rich mahogany brown.
With the help of "The Handyman", we
removed the overhead cabinets and
wired in pendant lights. I repainted;
installed all new light switches and
outlets; installed a new Delta
Goose-neck faucet; and "Oddinary Tiles"
custom tiled the bar.
PJ of "PJ Stencils" came down and
faux finished three walls for me!
I painted the two front bedrooms with soft desert
colors and updated the hardware.
During Remodeling
The Master Bath needed a lot of
plumbing done! I installed all new
hardware including faucets and toilet
kit in a top-of-tank-flush Koehler
toilet. Opening the tank was the
biggest challenge!
The lot was challenging, but I had
learned to build rock walls in Hawaii
so I used that knowledge to build
retaining walls to hold up the sandy
soil. I also installed a drip watering
system.
Repairing the vigas
It had been a lifelong dream of mine to be an
artist living in the Southwest, and in 2004 I had
the opportunity to purchase my dream home in
Arizona, in an animal Reserve with views equal
to those of a National Park...

The community was gated, a house up the street
had just been featured in "Architectural Digest",
and Oprah’s favorite resort and spa, "Miraval",
was right on the other side of the State Park!

I couldn’t have picked a more perfect spot!
I couldn't imagine my life being
any more perfect, when I met a
man in the community
who felt
"Good Time Charlie"
like my soul mate. We loved doing a lot
of the same things, we worked really well
together, and eventually he asked me to
make his home my own!
