Because of the strong love I have for architecture, my creative environment as an artist has always been important to me, not only in the houses I’ve chosen to purchase and work from, but in the location and views they offer.
House #1 - Costa Rica 1980's This is the first house I ever purchased, from my Dad's cousin who renovated this 100 year old farmhouse in Escazu', Costa Rica.
Hawaii 1991 - 2004 For 10 years we rented a condo on the 10th floor of this building overlooking Hilo Bay in Hilo, Hawai'i.
House #2 - Hilo, Hawai'i
At the end of 2000, I purchased a house up on the hill in Ainako Terrace, Hilo, Hawai'i. It was the house of my dreams, a Lindal Cedar post-and-beam, in need of a lot of tender loving care.
House #3 - Oro Valley, Arizona 2004 - 2010 What else can I say, it was all about the views!
Condo #4 - Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i 2010 - 2012 This condo was located in the perfect location, just below Keauhou Shopping Center and just above Keauhou Bay.
House #5 -Oro Valley, Arizona 2012 - 2017 This is house #2 of 4 that I've bought and sold in Oro Valley. It had an add-on room in the back, perfect for my art studio.
Condo #6 in Oro Valley 2017 - 2018 It also had a room off of the Main Bedroom, perfect for my art studio. I really missed having a yard to work in though. So why did we end up in a condo when we had the perfect house above? Number one, that house had a lot of electrical issues, mainly that we just couldn't get it grounded. And second, we had made an attempt to move back to Hawai'i, but Mom had ended up in the hospital while over there purchasing a house, and insisted that we return to Arizona. Looking back now, that was a huge mistake!
House #7 in Oro Valley 2018 to 2021 This little house was perfect in many ways. It was in the perfect neighborhood, in a perfect community, in a perfect little town outside of Tucson, but after being locked-down for two years and enduring one of the hottest summers in recorded history, it was time to move back "home", where the weather was more conducive to being outside and the food choices were healthier.
Condo #8 - Hilo, Hawai'i 2021 - 2023
Incredible Condo on the ocean in Hilo, Hawaii While looking for a house to purchase here in Hawaii, I rented this condo. My lease was up, there were no other rentals available nor houses affordable enough to purchase, so I purchased our two bedroom/two bath rental on the ocean which was up for sale. The hunt for a house continued for two years, as did the much needed renovations to the condo.
House #9 - Hilo, Hawai'i 2023 - Present Day
Finally, a house that checked all the boxes, and I beat out six cash offers! This was worth the wait! Built in 2018, it was only four years old, a rare find in Hilo! Two floors with two bedrooms and two full baths, plus a zoned full apartment space, (unfinished at the moment), downstairs. No close neighbors, it sits up on a hill overlooking Waiakea Stream. The owner/builder custom made all of the cabinets from Mango wood, and is just a moment away when I have any questions.
